Playdate Dress for School

25 Aug

I just packed away the first Oliver and S Playdate Dress I made for H. two years ago since is it now too small (EIK, where did the time go?). I have been wanting to make another one H. can wear to school since last year.  I finally was able to get around to it this week.   I think my favorite detail of this dress is the hidden one: the side pockets. Perhaps I am just projecting my love of pockets onto my daughter, but I think she enjoys having a little wearable storage space too.

For this version, I used chambray for the main part of the dress, leftover polka dot fabric from this dress for the yoke and facing hem, navy for the trim, and vintage buttons.

Last week, I whipped up a Lazy Day Skirt with half a yard of fabric from my stash and some navy bias tape.  It will make a nice coordinate piece to the last Music Class Blouse.
